To be eligible for entry to undergraduate programmes, all students must hold qualifications that are acceptable to the University of Otago.

The University recognises many other qualifications as equivalent to the New Zealand qualification for entrance and some of these are listed below.

IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score of 6.0 in the academic module (with no individual band below 6.0)
雅思学业考试6.0，单科不低于6.0
Paper-based TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score of 550 (TWE 4.5)
托福笔试550，写作4.5
